Blogiversary: You’re Looking for What??

Based on your survey answers so far (be sure to head over there and fill that out if you haven’t already), you’ve found my blog through another.  On an average day, the searches that bring readers to Popcorn on the Stove are pretty straight forward.  Typically, those terms include the blog name or for a project I’ve tackled (like the bow pillows I made).

Other days, the searches that bring people here are… a little less than usual.  I’ve compiled a few of my favorites below that have made me chuckle or say “whaaaaat??”.

1)  “Mini patron bottles”
… or “patron mini bottles”, “miniature patron bottles”, “small patron bottles”, “cool use of patron bottles”, “mini patron bottle shots”, and even more.  Seriously, there are at least 10 versions of this search.  I think it’s time we sat down for a talk… or I figure out how to actually make these and show you.

2)   “How to Deal with Bangs?”
Yeah… I’m still trying to figure out.  So far this is what I know: dry them first and don’t let them get wet.  Also, if they get messy and you lost your comb, pretend you styled them that way.  Confidence is key.

3)  “This Pig is Wearing Boots” or “Funny Your Reason is Invalid”
Other search terms included: “pig in boots”, “pig wearing clothes”, and “pig in boots invalid”.   I completely took this as an excuse to repost this image (found here) via LOLCats.  You’re welcome.

4)  “Popcorn Lamps”
Okay, after a quick Google Image search, you can buy lamps that are styled like popcorn or popcorn containers.  I didn’t realize how popular they were.  I’m so behind the style curve.

5)  “Gross Wedding Cake Toppers”
Really?  What kind of cake are you planning on having?  Wait… Joe… were you looking up zombie wedding cake toppers?

6)  “I Find You Very Pinteresting”
Why, thank you.  I find you very pinteresting as well. xoxo

7)  “Program Template for White Coat Pinning Ceremony”
Surprise!  I perform white coat pinning ceremonies!  Just kidding… I’m not even entirely sure what that entails.  I imagine white coats (and doctors wearing them) and pins.  Okay, I’m pretty sure I understand it now but I can’t help.  My days of presiding over pinning ceremonies are long gone.

8)  “What Color to Paint Living Room After We Have Put in a Stove”
… you put a stove in your living room?  That is quite the bold statement.  I’m not sure I can help you with the paint color without knowing what the stove looks like.

9)  “Proper Placement of Pots and Pans on Stove”
Already I have a feeling that I’m doing it wrong.

10)  “Secret to Popcorn on the Stove”
Oh, this is awkward.  I can’t tell you the secret behind this blog!  What?  You want to know the secret to making popcorn on the stove in the kitchen?  Well, that’s another story.  I can tell you that… don’t burn the popcorn (unless you like burnt popcorn, in which case the secret is burn the popcorn).

Are you guilty of searching with odd terms?  Do you recognize one of the above items as one of your searches?  Anyone else get weird search engine terms?  What’s the weirdest you’ve gotten?

When I was on my honeymoon I would search for your blog while I was waiting to go on a ride (we went to Disney World) but because you hadn’t bought your domain name yet I would put all sorts of crazy things into Google to try and get your blog to come up. “Popcorn on the stove blog Kristen” I forget what actually made it work but I’m probably behind at least 3 funny google searches involving your blog.

That’s so sweet! I did see those searches but just assumed someone was looking for the blog instead of a tutorial on how to make popcorn.

This also reminds me that Joe and I need to start looking into trips to Disney (can you believe he’s never been before?!).

  2. There are days when I definitely get weird search terms. I like my favorite is “gangster need love to” (wrong spelling and all).

It’s crazy what people search for on google!

These are all hilarious. I also find it very funny when I search for something, and Google starts auto-completing the sentence (with what I believe are probably the most common searched sentences…). Some of those are hysterical!

  4. That is so funny! I dont think I’ve every looked at my searches before, but now I want to…

Love this list! I always wonder how those random words relate to your blog in any way. It’s very amusing. Im also with Ainhoa- I definitely love when Google starts auto completing the search words- there are some great ones on there!

  6. These are hilarious! I have to admit I’ve seen a few searches on my blog that make me go ‘whaat?’ but none as funny as this!
