[The cats claim the couch every day]

This week, as I’m sure you’ve noticed on my instagram, Joe and I have been taking care of my parents’ three cats.  I would be lying if I said it’s been smooth sailing.  It began with a less than mellow car ride, followed by Sabrina planting herself in the middle of the couch and hissing at everything near her.  We were ready to take them back less than 24 hours after bringing them here but after that first night, things got significantly better.  The three of them are now found sitting next to me on the couch or pushing their way onto my lap (which makes blogging extra difficult).  Even with this anxiety in the beginning, it’s been so nice having the three of them around.

Cats are fun. The one thing I miss about having cats for a few months when we were kids was you have to almost work at the relationship with them. They don’t automatically adore you like dogs do. Some days that’s nice. Our schnauzer follows us around constantly. Never wants his own time.

That’s one of my favorite things about cats – that they’re independent and you have to earn their trust. Dogs are great, too, but when a cat chooses you as their person, it’s a wonderful thing :)

Love all the pictures of your cats! It never fails that they want to be a part of everything you do, even bloggoing! Our kittens we rescued at 2 weeks old are about 7 months now and it’s still not always smooth sailing, my husband continues threatening to toss them back outside (but come on, he’s the one who brought them in).

From no cats to three was likely a big switch! haha. They are adorable and I am glad you are enjoying your time with them now. Our dog is a bit like a cat in that she doesn’t trust right away. She’s very leary of strangers and you have to work at it to get her to like you. Once you’re in her good books though you’re good to go.
